They are not 'copies' they are the exact same thing. Only the BC is 2mm larger in diameter. If you want a car that car perform, I would not run BC/Megan/CXR/etc. They are crap. You'd be better off building your own out of Koni/Bilstein.-AlexComment

Thanks, thats the direction im leaning anyways. Then im the only person i can blame when its not what i want. Plus its rewarding to say hey, i built these!sigpic

Love when people just bash a product with absolutely no factual evidence to back up their claim.

^^^ Makes sense.
Cost is a big factor in what I do. Based on what I'm going to use it for, and that I have sourced all the parts for build my own and it comes in quite a bit cheaper then buying any of these setups I'd like to see a comparison between say, koni's with GC setup (will mimic what I put together) versus say BC/Megan/CXR.sigpic

Probably going that route is your best bet then.
I'm not saying "bc is the best, period"
GC make a better setup and their price reflects that.
But saying bc is crap is just plain ignorance. Plenty of us run them and like em. I'm very happy with my setup.
Well probably never be able to do real world testing. As having the same car on the same track each difference only being the coil overs probably won't happen.

Totally agree......nice critical thinking.
Its appreciated and lacking in the forum....A LOT.sigpic

And 'being happy with your setup' IS factual evidence? There are also plenty of people happy with cut springs and blown shocks. BC are cheaply made generic valving coilovers that happen to fit the E30. They are great for stance but if you want a performance shock and spring setup, they will let you down. The first five clicks of adjustment do nothing, the other 25 are a hit or miss whether they will adjust or not since half of the clicks are on top of each other. I would also be interested to see how well they match each other. BC claims they match the shocks to within 5% of each other BEFORE being built, so... that doesn't really say much for how they will match after being built. I'm guessing not within 5%.-AlexComment

You may have some valid points, alas this is a discussion I can't be apart of because I have no freaking idea........
Thanks for your input guys. So lets assume I go my own route in front, what about the back, I'm not supper stoked about putting in camber and tow adjustment plates off the bat. I understand their purpose, but I lack to knowledge to properly tune them. What would you recommend for springs and shocks that would allow some adjustment?sigpic

Just get either Ground Control, German Engineering or IE coilover 'sleeve' or conversion kits and some Bilstein or Konis valved to match your rates. I also find my H&R race a bit soft with an m50 under the hood. From the sounds of it modifying housings would be nothing for you.For all things 24v, check out Markert Motorworks!Originally posted by mbonanniI hate modded emtree, I hate modded cawrz, I hate jdm, I hate swag, I hate stanceyolokids, I hate bags (on cars), I hate stuff that is slowz, I hate tires.

Yeah....making things fit has never been an issue with me hahaha. I'm just new to a lot of this and I want to make sure whatever I end up pairing together works well.sigpic

In which case, pick components that:
A: That don't allow a million different ways to adjust. If you do, you'll have a hard time figure out if it's the way it's set up, or if it's your design. And those sorts of issues can be damn near impossible to trouble shoot unless you have access to similar cars or people that have driven the snot out of a similar setup.
B: That do allow you to change your fabrication around them to produce a different result. I don't know how possible that is, but if you decide that you want a different strut design in the future, it would suck to be forced to buy whole new front end components because your previous ones aren't really compatible.
There, that's my engineering advice ;)-------------------------------------------------

I'm not about to defend BC or anything else, but as a lurker on these types of discussions it's completely unhelpful to bash a product as "crap" and NOT give the alternative that isn't crap. Not only is give the alternative directly helpful, it's indirectly helpful by allowing up to see where you're coming from with your opinion.
Just sayin'.
