    20k on shock mounts

I'm pretty surprised that my rear shock mounts are toast after less than 2 years of driving. They aren't just on their way out either; the center metal piece is completely separated. When I got the car I put new Bilsteins and shock mounts in. I'm guessing the firmer shock wore them out quicker than a stock shock would? It just doesn't seem like BMW would make a part that would completely fail in so little time. Oh well, Ireland engineering poly mounts are in the mail.

Curious, did you use OEM BMW mounts too?

The compression damping of Bilstein shocks is a fair bit higher than OE shocks so it is no surprise to see OE mounts experience early failure. I use the mounts that Rouge engineering makes, but the improved mounts Bimmerworld sells are also very good. The Rouge parts have replaceable bushings and they offer street or race bushings.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yeah, I just did oem mounts initially. I'm guessing the poly one's from IE will last much better.

Wow, surprised the OEM stuff didn't last longer.

I personally think the poly/billet IE mounts are very nice. Price is good too.

I had a cheap meyle rear mount blow out after 5k miles. With Billy sports .

Granted I was driving through New York when it dissintigrated .

Upgraded to turners cheaper "poly" mounts . No problems since

using the rouge enginering will allow the usage of strut tower support in the rear?

Yes, but the IE ones include the upper support with the mounts. Depending where you are at in SoCal you could even drive over.

Frankly, you'll start to get into a lot of hair-splitting. Anyone of these will do what you need.

I got the IE shock mounts in about a week ago. Ahhh...its nice to drive clunk free finally. The upper support is really thick as well, seems it'll do its job nicely. This is probably the best bang for the buck, easy to install upgrade I've done and at this point I've replaced every wearing part in the suspension.
