    Strut Damper Nut Removal

OK, so while I wait for the PB Blaster to soak in...

I'm replacing what appear to be the original dampers on my '91 318is with Koni adjustables (the rears had the BMW logo stamped on them and what seems to be a 1991 date code).

The threaded nut at the top of the strut housing, that retains the damper in the strut housing, appears to have remained untouched since 1991 - the visible threads are almost non-existent after 14+ years of rust.

I checked the box, and my Konis do not appear to have come with new strut housing nuts.

Before I order the part, I want to double check to make sure that I do in fact need the original part:

THREADED RING WITH EXTERNAL THREADM48X1,5, number 31321117376

    item number 6 here:http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...11&hg=31&fg=10

If anyone cares, that is the correct part, although the design of the strut retaining nut has changed slightly.

Call Ground Control and order the Koni Gland nut or see if the retailer you bought the Konis from has them in stock.
It sucks retailers don't sell Konis with the Gland nuts anymore

      Good luck.
