    Freakin Spindle nut!!!

OK......Now that I'm blue in the face I'll come and check. Skimmed through the Bentley and nothing..........by chance, is the spindle reverse threaded or something??? Trying to get the nut off to replace the bearing and hub.

I'm a pretty big guy, with a bigger cheater bar....holy crap I cannot break it loose. and yes, I bent the little stop tab out hahaha....

    Suggestions? Heat maybe?

Someone literally just posted a video about that. Use a 4 foot long breaker bar, use a jack stand under the socket extension to keep the socket from sliding off the nut.

To answer your question. No, it is NOT reverse thread.

It is not reverse threaded, but it is tightened to 350ft-lb. A 1/2" drive breaker bar, a 4-6' extension, and a six point socket will usually get the nut off. But I have had to use a 3/4" drive impact wrench on occasion. If nothing works, take the car a shop. You don't want to chance rounding over the nut.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

yeah, and I have the freakin strut of the car right now. Is that nut steel.....I was thinking about heating it up a little and trying to break it loose. If all else fails my buddies shop down the road has a 3/4 impact.

If I understand correctly the strut is off the car. In that case unless you have a very heavy duty vice bolted to something substantial your best option is to take the strut to someone with a beefy impact wrench. The nut is steel, but heating it hot enough to make a difference could overheat the spindle.

I fought with it, and fought with it, and finally when all else failed, drug my neighbors air hose over grabbed my impact and in two seconds it was off.

An impact is your best friend when working on these cars!!!

+1 impact -- I did mine off the car too which wasn't any fun. Just beware about the bearing if you're going to heat it. Also make sure your socket is fitting properly, I had to trim down the outside walls to get it all the way on the nut. It would seem to be on, but then slip

Yeah, I have an electric one but it apparently doesn't have the balls to handle this. I had a 4' cheater bar on a 2 foot breaker bar with a 1/2 socket......I used to powerlift, so hopefully that puts "big guy" into terms......still wouldn't break.

I'm trying to get it off because I'm replacing the bearing and hub so I don;t care to much about them. All new steering and suspension going under the car, might as well change the bearings and hubs while it off.

Actually come to think of it, I ended up grinding down the lip of the old bearing to gt at the nut properly. I was frustrated that day.
