See if the ST lowering springs for e30s are still available on ebay. A bunch of us got them for $75 shipped. -
yeah not worth it. if you need to cut the springs, don't cut past 1 coil otherwise you will be getting sea sickLeave a comment:

CUtting will of corse lower them. but it REALLY stiffens a spring, making the harder ride.Leave a comment:

What acolella76 said, you will not fuck it up. Hot rod guys have been doing it longer than our cars have been around. Just don't expect it to handle very well since stock does not handle amazing to begin with.
If you do chop them after all of us say not to, don't cut with a torch. Use a cutting wheel to keep the metal heat treating from changing to mush.
Cut both even and in small amounts. I believe half a ring looks fine from the couple of guys that cut springs on e30s.
A beater e30 I picked up had 1/2 a ring removed and looked just fine. It also handled alright, but that was in the back of a parking lot/in a field.
My advice is to buy some used H&R race springs and do it right the first time.Leave a comment:

Cut em if you want. People have been doing it for ages, it isn't going to 'fuck up your suspension'. At most you'll just have a bouncy ride and/or bottom out frequently, and people may give you some shit. Cut them small increments at a time until you reach desired height... that way you don't over do it.Leave a comment:
