anybody have first hand experience with megan coilovers?

first off, if you dont have first hand experience with them, dont bother commenting, i dont wanna hear how much better your kw's, fortune auto's etc. are

if you do have a set on your car though, or have ridden/driven in a car that has them, please let me know what you think of them, im thinking of picking up a set soon for a cheap e30 that ill be using as a daily driver

Drove an IS250 that had a set, sadly don't know which one or how/if they were adjusted, but the ride was not settled on road and made the naturally hoppy/thrashy IS a bit worse IMO riding without gaining anything I could feel. That said, I was only driving along fairly normally, maybe they would be better if I was giving the car some more poke. Basically, would I want them on a DD, no.

I dd a set and autocross them. Very pleased so far. I loosen the dampening up and comfortably drive them ~4 hours on the highway and then stiffen them/adjust camber and have good results in autocross. I imagine with R-comps would make it even better but I have had good grip with just 15x8 trms and 205/50 dunlop dz101s. I did however order shorter springs up front and run 3mm spacers in the front as well. I have a few pictures and an onboard hero3 video from last weeks autocross that I will post soon. for <1k, I say its a good deal especially over ie3s/konis or similar as that was my previous setup. you also have dampening adjustment in the rear not to mention camber plates up front. Pics to follow and I will post the video as soon as my buddy compresses the file and sends it to me.

They're the same as CXRacing, D2, BC almost, etc. They're decent entry level coilovers... thaats about it. Do some searching n00b

ive done plenty of research but most coilover threads are either people talking about how much better their (insert brand here) coilovers are, or people who just bought coilovers and dont have them installed yet but theyre already the best just because thats what they bought....

also ive read that the megan's are different from BC's and the D2's/k-sports/etc.

anyways, thanks for your replies guys

That's true. People on r3v are dicks, and no I won't say I'm an exception.

They have different color parts.. thats about where the differences end. They are made by the same supplier. But, like I said they're still decent for the slamalamadingdong and just riding around... Just don't expect top-notch quality.

Yep. We were approached to be an initial dealer and given a set to test. They were put on an E30 M3 and taken out to the track (a couple vintage races, not just a single track day). The feedback was horrible, very vague in relation to what the car was actually doing. Similar to how KYB's feel on an '02. I'll echo what others mentioned, if your going low, go for it. If not, pick your alternate poison.

Needless to say we passed on that "opportunity".
