I'm about to be running H&R Race springs with Bilstein Sports in San Francisco. Car is otherwise stock. What do you guys think? It's hilly as hell in this town. Is this a bad move? Am I going to rip off my is lip? I'm looking for good low, but not too much bone shaking. There are a lot of potholes here too. Thanks.
Looking for 325is suspension reccos for San Francisco roads.

I haven't driven in SF in some years, but my recollection is that H&R Race springs would be way too low and way too stiff. For those conditions there is a lot to be said for the OE suspension. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Your suspension question depends on how much you like to bitch and cry about things. I run I.E. springs (w/ E90 drophat's) which are nearly identical to H&R's, and drive my car daily on streets of Los Angeles and I've made a trip to UCSF with no problems or complaints.
As far as your front lip is concerned, consider it toast. It will get abused. My advice is to hit up a junk yard and buy a $15 dollar volvo lip (and an extra oil pan while your at it) and some zip ties. I run a volvo lip and every first of the month I re-check zip-ties and fix accordingly. Good luck.WTB: Diamond Schwartz HoodComment
