Has anyone installed OEM E36 M3 springs in to their E30?

I know that they will physically fit, sure.

I am piecing together a beater E30 and it currently has cut springs and sits way too low. I've got a set of E36 M3 springs laying around and was thinking of throwing them on! Just curious if anyone has tried this? A "stock" look is totally fine with me but I'd like to avoid going full "monster truck" too.

    Info and insight appreciated.

It should not be hard to locate a set of "take off" springs that you could get for free, or nearly so.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

That's hardly the issue. I've got a set or two of E30 springs laying around.

Was more curious if anyone had tried the E36 M3 springs.

Interested as well... have a set of 1998 e36 m3 (sedan) stock springs laying around.
Particularly in rear setup. I would love to have slightly lowered/ firmer rear end ride height.
M3 springs are definitely stiffer, about 1.5" shorter, and coils are 2-3mm thicker.

Aren't oem springs progressive in rate? i see a lot of benefit if these did fit.

I don't understand how this has not been investigated before.

Well, just judging from car to car, they should be stiffer, but could make an e30 sit higher. The fact they are shorter then e30 springs though should help with that. Someone try it and post pictures.

I would be curious how they compare to E30 M3 springs, which I have installed and like quite a bit.

I'm amazed I never tried this, I had sets of both these and e36 PSS9 springs but never tried the stock e36 m3 springs. I should have, the PSS9 springs were way too low and rode on bump stops.

I have a pair as well from my old e36. I'm currently on e30 m3 rears with both pads in. I'm putting in unknownish sportlines in. I might try both and see.

                            I rode in a '90 e30 325is with stock m20/g260 and E36 M3 springs installed with bilstein e30 dampers.

It was lower, rode nice. thought it was stock for a moment and then it looked to low.

0 details of install; was my friends car.
