Are the Shock Mount Kits necessary?

Hey guys I just ordered the Bilstein Sports & H&R Sport Springs for my car. The guy at Turner Motorsports said I should get the Shock Mount Kit which contains new strut mounts, bearings, gaskets.

Is this a necessary $150.00 or an upsell? I've been jerked around too often when it comes to auto servicing and I'd like to know what you all would suggest.

The rear shocks need heavier duty mounts than stock and they almost certainly need to be replaced on the basis of age. I like those made by Rouge engineering. The front struts mounts also almost certainly need to be be replaced on the basis of age, but the OE/OEM parts are fine there.

well if you havent done them yet. or in the past 20 or so years they arent a bad idea. and if you have the money a refresh of suspension is a good idea. just shop around a bit you might find a better deal. pretty much anything thats rubber if it hasnt been replaced should be. but no you dont need them right away if theres not signs that your current ones are shot. i personally did the rear shock mounts when i did my suspension just because turner has them for like 38 bucks with lifetime warranty and got the reinforcement plates just because. but as for the front shock mounts, if you have any noise coming from them while turning or going over bumps (could be other things) or if they have decent visible crack then maybe you should think of replacing. other wise take your time and spend money as you feel comfortable.

I'm going through suspension stuff at the moment too...

Rear shock mounts are a historic weak point. Do those, especially with upgraded components. For the strut mounts, I plan on taking it apart first and seeing what they look like. I'll replace them if necessary with OEM pieces.
