Attention all e30 owners on Air Suspension!

Lately I have been pondering the idea of getting air ride suspension for my car. The roads here in PA are too bad to keep driving this low, and I have a fairly clean, low mileage e30 and I want to keep it as clean as possible and make it last as long as possible. For all of you guys running air suspension, or if you know anything about it, i have a few questions:

    1. What companies make a kit, or if not a kit, are willing to help you build a kit compatible with the e30.

    2. How much would i be looking to spend with mentioned setups.

    3. Are there any bag-over-coil setups that people are running, or are available for the e30?

Ive searched the internet, and r3v, and i havent found much information at all. Probably because there arent many people using air on their e30. I know on this forum, RSGM is using air, as well as someone else i know for sure, but i forget his username. I also know of a bronzit e30 that is bagged from canada, but i dont know if hes on here or not. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

    You're probably thinking of White325is.

Hope you get some info, I've been looking into this too.

I got some info from stanceworks.com and some prices from bag riders.com. I know next to nothing about air ride but I do know that there aren't any full kits for our cars because of the front struts. The struts have to be cut and modified for air ride.

There are a few threads about air ride around here though...

Ive searched stanceworks and couldnt really find much info. The only info i got was from reading RSGM and Nick Lannos' features about what bags they are running. Still not much info, like the lines, compressor, tank or management system. Most likely for the price manual management would probably be the best, and i still think from bagriders it is about 500 USD. I might end up PMing a few of the people on here on air and see what kind of info i get.

As far as the front struts go, ive seen people that say bagriders will piece the front together if you send in the front housings, but i havent gotten clarification from them yet.

Ah yeah Wobbieeeee. Talk to White325is, though. I think he has thread about modifying front struts for bags. I'm sure he is quite knowledgeable about the subject.

          Edit: Here's what I was thinking of - http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=233644

                quoted exactly from him:

                A whole kit is 2400 shipped. I do e30 installs for 1k.
I always suggest the airlift v2 setup. It's a great setup. Never any issues. The gauge is built right into the controller. So it's very convenient and clean looking.
Manual setup you raise it up and down by yourself. So two paddle valves. One gauge. It's the basic of basic systems to go with. I don't have pricing for it. But I could look it up for you tomorrow. I never suggest it. But I will sell it if that's what you want.

The 1k covers cutting ad welding the front struts. Installation. Making the plates for the correct adjustment on the camber.
Rear consist of modifying the trailing arms. Cutting and welding the upper perches and installing the bags.
Pulling the interior to run all of the wires and lines. Setting up the tank and comps. Properly adjusting and setting up the system and checking for leaks.
If you're using stock bottle caps or weaves. You will née to run a spacer to clear the bag.
I can modify and weld the front struts together ad you can do everything yourself if you have access to a welder.

I'm seriously leaning towards the AccuAir e-Level system. I know it'll be more of a PITA to install because of the 4 sensors, but what the hell.

I also want to install the whole system in the spare tire well. I'd like it all hidden back there.

The thread mentioned above covers everything you need to know, part numbers and all. I will also be going with elevel management, but air lift bags are the only way to go. With elevel, installing yourself, your looking between $3k and 3.5k depending on compressors and tank. If you have the money to spend, look into AZ OB2 compressors.

Buy a used tank off someone, find a used V2, or even a V1 ( i loved mine). Compressors are cheap enough, i prefer viar, but it's up to you. For those, check all around the internet, plenty of deals to be had.

If your looking for the airlift universals, shoot me a PM as I have a supplier who will most likely beat anyones prices, albeit, not an E30 guy.

As far as the other "stuff", airline is cheap enough, fittings as well. The expensive stuff is your management (if going digital) and your struts.
