New to The Scene. Feel me in plz..

So i just got my first e30.. its an 87 325e 5spd coupe.. i love it to death already.. drives great. runs great. the first thing i wanna do to it is lower it.. but with me being in the honda game for the past 5 years and dealing with cars that have stock coilover suspension when i look under my e30 im highly confused lol.. in the rear the spring and strut are completely separate? so how does this work with coilsleeves and coilovers? what has to be done? thank you any help would be greatly appreciated.. im srry for being a noob.. ill learn

    Welcome!

For adjustable coils, the rear utilizes what is commonly referred to as a weight jack on some race cars. Though not technically a "jack", the threaded bung for the adjuster takes the place of the lower spring pad on the trailing arm.

        Maybe this will help?

Have you looked under your car yet?

so im assuming the coilsleve replaces the stock spring? correct? and the strut stays where its at?

              You are correct.

And just so you know, it's a shock back there, not a strut.
True coilovers in the rear leave very little space for the wheel/tire combo.

Especially if the wheel is wider than stock.

But that's another can of worms...

so in what case would u remove the Shock in the back? ever? or is all the adjustability going to be in the spring? i see alot of full coilover systems online that are relitevely priced and i was wondering how that worked? if your tired of my questioning u can just not reply lol.. im just tryin to learn. srry for the inconveinence

The info is all here man. Even 3 minutes on Google Images will tell you everything you need to know.
Shock and spring are divorced. What MARK showed you is the spring setup if you were to get coilovers.

I don't mind answering your questions at all, but this is R3V, so keep your thick skin oiled up.;)

You only need to remove the shock to swap out the stock springs. Once a spring and adjuster are installed shock removal isn't necessary. Shocks don't dictate ride height, the springs do. All the shock does is manage the energy.
