i just bought some eibach springs from some dude , and they are kinda rusty , but i just hope they drop my e30 to a decent height, does anyone own eibach springs and if you do i would like some feedback thanks

They are a quality product. However, springs are not a "one size fits all", and there is a lot of subjective grains of large salt tossed in. Do you know anything more about them? We might be able to tell you what their intended purpose is if we know more :)-------------------------------------------------

If they are the Pro-Kit springs, they're better off rusting away entirely. They are softer than OEM springs and drop the car a significant amount resulting in a horrible ride. I think Eibach made another, stiffer, set of springs but I don't know what they were called or how to identify them. Lastly Eibach does make a great coilover spring but chances are you are probably looking at something not of that nature...-Alex

ohh i see, no i actually dont know much about them, i just bought them because i wanted to drop my car , and also because the guy sold me the whole set for $90 , so i thought it was a good deal, but he did tell me they were off his e30,

The Eibach Pro-Kit for E30 (325i coupe & sedan to be exact) has a higher spring rate than the OE springs. Even the Eibach's rear spring has a higher rate at static load than the factory spring at full coil bind. Keep in mind the Eibach Pro-Kit isnt designed for a full blown race car, but a more superior spring with performance handling in mind...all while still retaining a daily driver feel. Yes, there are beefier springs out there, but not everyone wants/needs that. Eibach never released a Sportline kit (lower, higher rate) for this exact reason.
The only time you'd have a horrible ride with a Pro-Kit is if you were on factory shocks with 80,000 miles on it.
And let us not forget that a factory oe BMW spring has been sitting on most of our cars since the day it rolled off the factory line. A spring that has seen sand, dirt, rain & snow for the last three decades.
OP, the rust is most likely not an issue. Eibach springs are put through a harsh ''salt water'' torture test for several days to make sure the raw material and powdercoating can hold up to extreme weather conditions.
If you'd like peace of mind, I'd suggest contacting the sales department at Eibach. They'll be more than happy to take a look at detailed pictures of the springs, or even test them at no charge in their facility. (951) 256-8400.Eibach

Regarding the rates posted above: Those Pro-Kit rates are off. Front is 114 linear, Rear 280-326 Progressive.
That being said, Pro-Kits are higher rate than the factory I, and pretty much dead even with a brand new IS front spring. , but we are talking about springs that have been on the car since the 80's. Needless to say, a 30 year old spring will no longer have a 116lb spring rate.

Great topic guys, I just put a pro kit on my car today, my problem is its now way to low, I did buy the springs used, but what can go wrong with a spring, but as I was installing them I noticed that it looked like the coils were touching, well in my mind that tells me the springs might be collapsed, I didn't look at them closely when I got them, I'm at a play, and I plan on posting pics in my own thread, but thanks88 M3 Lachsliber glass top, 90 IS project,
