    FK coilover woes

I was banking on buying the koningsport suspension from FK but after a long run around they are telling me they are very hard to come by and only available as a special order (maybe). ...sooo as pissed as i am im thinking about my other options.
It would be helpful if you could tell me what spring setup would give me the lowest drop and stiffest feel, H&R or Eibach? I thought about a cup kit but ive seen that it slams some e30's beyond belief.
Then there is the ground control route although i have been discouraged because of the fact that for full adjustability you need to cut and weld the strut tube? seems like a hastle? Plus i dont know how to weld.

im just looking for someone to point me in the right direction...I go to school and drive a jeep in NH for the winter but the car is driven in the decent weather. Keep in mind i will be going to my first BMWCCA driving school this summer at lime rock.

    Sorry for the suspension mouthfull....

once you go GC, you never go back. well, you can't unless you buy new struts :P

welding isn't necessary and the cutting really isn't a big deal, I'd go with GC or H&R/IE Race, depending on whether or not you want it to be adjustable. remember, you can corner weigh with GCs

My springs are 350/450 and are very smooth on the street, I don't see problems running 450/600 off track

www.amimotorsports.com had fk coilovers for the e30 last time i checked. I got my fk cup kit within like 3 days of ordering it from a local shop. Their stuff shouldnt be that hard to come by.

Yeah, the guys at AMI are good. I'm not too sure if they have the E30 c/o setup though, I remember a while back they had a special all FK kits but they excluded the E30 because of none in stock and no shipment in sight. Try them if you haven't yet.

          j-stock springs?

What does everyone think about the TMS "J stock" spring set? Anyone have any experience with it. Is the ride on the street bearable? Im really considering all of my options here..

Good luck on New England road. Brutally stiff designed for smooth roads and track, not the street.

Does anyone have an FK High Tec suspension set up or any Fk product at all that could comment on the ride/drop? Also, Is the high tec considered an FK cup kit? Any pics of cars with the setups would help

                thanks again and again..

I've got the FK HighSport c/o kit on my e36 318ti (close enough to an e30... 8) ). I'm not sure if that's what you refer to when you say "high tec", or maybe that's their cup kit setup.

The HighSport c/o's are height only adjustable, no damping control. Not only does it seem impossible to track down actual spring rates (although I've heard 400/420 F/R), but I can't really figure out what kind of shocks they use. (again, I've heard rebadged Konis, but do they even make a non-adjustable insert?)
The ride is not even comparable to my old H&R/Bilstein Sport setup- the FK's are lengths better! No more banging into the bump stops on every little bump or pothole like the H&R's. The spring rates on the FK's feel substantially stiffer than the H&R sports, much less body roll, squat, and dive- just soft enough for the street, and great for auto-x and track use. If the car didn't spend so much time on the road, I would probably go a little stiffer again.
It should be noted that the FK highsports (and konigsport as well, I believe) uses a 60 lb tender spring on the front to hold the springs tight at full droop. This can create clearance issues if you're running a wide wheel/tire combo without spacers. My little 205 azenis have a ton of room, however.

I'm amazed at how many people recommend the H&R/Bilstein combo, as it seems like the springs are waaay too soft to manage the travel well.

                  Thumbs up for FK though!

NOW people start talking about FK, not in MY thread ;) I talked to Ove on bmwe30.net. He said the Hi tec springs are great, but the no name yellow shocks they match them with suck. So, I guess just get the springs and match them with bilsteins (the setup he is running)

bringing this back to life, thinking about getting the FK Konigsport Coilovers with Koni adjustables, anyone have any seat time on these or know the spring rates by chance? Feedback?

                      Thanks

I've got the FK hitec springs with bilstein sports. I like it. Not the coilover, just the 60/40mm drop. Got them from AMI. Good tight ride.
