    KYB Shocks and Struts

I found a set of front and back shocks/struts that's being sold on Craigslist for $100 - has anyone heard of this brand? I see that Advance Auto sells them but they look pretty generic and I don't know if its worth picking up something that's going to need replacing in the near future.

For what it's worth, the owner is claiming 5k miles on them.

GR2s or Ecel Gs as they are now called are basically clones of stock dampers.
They are not performance oriented at all.
    Suspension tips here...

Hm. For a car that's never had a suspension upgrade would it be at least hold over for a while? I don't exactly know what it ought to feel like in the first place but I am pretty sure the PO never made that replacement.

If you are running stock suspension, go for it. You will at least have a decent ride for a while until you decide to upgrade.

KYB's SUCK. don't bother. Had them on a few cars, were blown faster than any shock I've used.

I am currently using kyb's in the rear, sitting on 5 inch 500# springs. They are still not blown after 2+ years and got them both for 60$ shipped. For the budget minded, they work.

Yep, sideways87 put them on his car. They'll be fine for stock height cars or even ones with mild lowering (H&R Sport). As mentioned, at $100 for all four corners they're worth it, unless your budget allows doing the entire suspension instead.
