    Steering column removal..WTF????

I've been looking into removing the complete steering column from my non-airbagged parts car to my vert that has a AB.
Well What I have found is the bolts that actully hold the column to the dash frame have cone heads. Yup, instead of a hex head or something the head is a cone ^ Its looks like the ONLY way to remove these bolts is to either cut a slot into it and use a hand impact w/ slotted tip OR cut and grind the head off which would work to remove the good column but on the vert they would need to be drilled out etc to accept new bolts.
    Has anybody actaully done this???

That's a security feature. They are called break away bolts. You do have to cut or chisel them out, and you must order new bolts from the dealer.

Breakaway bolts of any type have a fastener head of some sort that will break off at a pre-determined torque.

Ok, I can picture that, thanks. I have a feeling that removal is still gonna suck balls ;)
