    sway bar tab broken question

One of my sway bar tab just snapped today. Is the oem tab needed in order for the reinforcement plate from AKG to work? Thanks

that reinforcement plate is just a "copy" of the OEM one and gets welded on top so you get double thickness. You can just weld the AKG one in place or weld on your old one and AKG on top. Or you can get someone to copy your OEM one and weld a new piece instead.

In that case, I'll just get the akg plate weld on then. The OEM tab broke off and flew off while I was driving. Thanks

Might want to consider a stronger mount altogether if you're at it.....

The akg plate is just a piece of metal. Nothing too special. They sell it for people that want to take it to a shop and say "weld this on please!" - so it's a convenience thing. Nothing wrong with that.....but....

If it was me, I'd take my car to a local repair shop that does muffler work. They will be able to fab that up in no time. And shouldn't be too expensive.

Normally I would say, "go to the 'bad' side of town, to find a shop to get the best deal" - but I see you're in Stockton, so....just drive in a circle for 10 mins, and you'll be in the getto. ;)

(just giving you shit - I grew up in Modesto - so don't mind my bitterness at all)

i know what you mean, lol. I met a German guy at PNP and he is willing to help me weld those tabs in. While the subframe is out, i might as well weld in the motor mount plate in also.

Can it still be used without the oem tab?

It replaces the OEM sway bar mount, and bolts in on both sides. It's the same reinforcement/mount kit that they sell with their 25mm/22mm sway kit, should be way more than OK with the stock stuff.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.
