Cheap aftermarket rear sway endlink option w/o sphericals

As usual, I forgot to take pictures. Of course.

Anyway, the solution to the clunking rear sway endlinks that I came up with is pretty simple: Take a front endlink, cut it in half, thread it, and rejoin the two pieces in the correct (90 degrees turned so that they are parallel) orientation.

Some additional fiddling may be required to get them to fit, but this was what worked for me. Hopefully it lasts, as it's nice having a rear sway again. I have literally had these stupid things sitting in my parts box for the last 9 months waiting to get around to playing with them.

So you thread both halves into a male configuration, and combine them again with a threaded female sleeve? Interesting! I suppose the more concrete way would be to weld it back, maybe adding a brace. But not all of us (myself included) have that skill and equipment just lying around :)

I'm sure that heat would do absolutely nothing good for the bushing, though.

So what is the advantage to this? The adjustable length?

The issue is that the stock endlinks have the balljoint perpendicular to the lower bushing. You need to rotate them so that they are parallel to match the motion of the trailing arms.

Honestly, this is not a good case for welding.

What size die did you use to thread them?

Your never supposed to weld something that is under tension really...

Why does your title say "w/o sphericals"? Are you not using the ends with the bearings and joining 2 of the other ends together? Pics would really help. And are you trying to sell the set you've "had sitting in your parts box for the last 9 months"?

                  He means not these

                  Or something like this

They don't hold up too well to being exposed to the elements and will wear and fail quite quickly on a street driven car.

I used 3/8ths. Very convenient to source a joining nut from home despot.

Why on earth do you think that I'm trying to sell anything?
