JOM coilover replacement strut insert question

I just recently picked up a 91 318is that has JOM coilovers installed. The car is super low ( my skid plate is mabye 2in. from the ground ) and im one of those people who would rather have look cool than handle great. Its just a slow transportation car for me. I would like to keep it low, The struts Must have just went because when I first bought it the car was firm enough to drive around without bouncing around and wacking the skid plate a lot.

My question is... am I able to replace the front inserts with Bilstein or KYB and still keep my JOM springs and adjusters ? It looks like the JOM's are a smaller diameter to allow the adjusters to fit. I was doing some reading here and found the info about the mr2 struts, and also something about 45mm inserts in 51mm housings for the JOM's to still work. Can anyone tell me what I need to buy to keep my car dumped still with these coilovers that will fit and mabye be stiffer and handle the drop a little better so I dont bottom out driving around ??

I had JOM's a couple years ago. IIRC, you should be able to fit them just fine but you may have to drill out the hole in the top of the adjuster for bilstein's inverted design.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Ok, I was hoping to find a direct drop in replacement, I was looking into running the g60 struts and shortening my housings also to prevent the car from blowing out whatever I replace them with right away. Will that help or does it get to a point where it does not matter once you drop the car really low ? I also don't want to spend much money replacing the struts on this setup, if it is going to be more than a couple hundred I would rather invest in some legit coilovers with camber plates.
Has anyone else replaced struts with JOM coilovers ?

My brother uses mr2 kybs with his racelands (same design as joms) with shortened housings. They fit almost perfect under the jom collar nut but if I remember correctly we used a large thick washer under the collar but because it had a bit of play on the top of the shock.

He's been using them for ~6 months now with good success, besides the springs being stupidly soft. The ride is great!
