Play in Strut Mount?

The axle has no effect on suspension geometry. How could it possible cause an issue?

I'm confused, you say the strut mounts are brand new, but that you've never replaced them. Did the previous owner replace them?

How did it come apart? And how old? Mine don't even have 5,000 miles on 'em...
