    Seeking Suspension Overhaul Parts Advice

    Hello everyone.

I am doing a complete overhaul of the suspension/steering on my ‘91 318i and wanted to get some educated/experienced opinions on what to spend money on, and what to skip on.

First off she is not a track car, she’s a Daily Driver. (Will the ride be too stiff?)

So this is the setup I am looking at:

Reinforcement - She’s getting old and I drive her harder then I should
AKG front sway bar reinforcement plates
    AKG motor mount reinforcement plates
    AKG trailing arm reinforcement
Ireland Engineering front sway bar brackets with bushings
Ireland Engineering rear sway bar brackets with bushings
Front shock mount reinforcement plates (Pelican Parts)
Rear shock mount reinforcement plates (Pelican Parts)

AKG Control Arm Bushings Offset 95A
    AKG subframe/Diff Bushings 85A
    AKG Trailing Arm Bushings
    Ireland Engineering Urethane Steering Coupler

I am finally going to swap in an E36 Steering rack and am actively looking for the right M3 or Z3 rack

    AKG rear shock mounts
    Strut Mounts Moog
    Bilstein HD’s

Tie Rods Lemfoerder (Is the name brand important here?)
    Control Arms Lemfoerder
    Ball Joints Lemfoerder
Swaybar Links (If I don’t upgrade sways from stock)

Also new: Spring pads/Shock mount gaskets/Strut caps/Dust collars/Bump stops and Protection boots from Pelican Parts.

Other things kicking around my head:
I am considering swapping the Sway bars out for new ones, but it’s always seemed adequate for around town
I have always been against changing out the springs, but for the first time in 2 decades I am wavering..

    Any advice would be appreciated!

If a DD, no need for upgraded parts or reinforcements, with the exception of the rear upper shock mounts. For everything else use OE/OEM parts and don't forget the control arms, subframe, and trailing arm bushings and the motor, transmission, and differential mounts. New spring pads are a good idea.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      I don’t drive her easy…

      Rear shock mount reinforcement plates
AKG Control Arm Bushings Offset 95A
      E36 Steering rack
AKG rear shock mounts (Should I go OEM on these as well?)
      Strut Mounts OEM
      Bilstein HD’s
Tie Rods Lemfoerder (Is the name brand important here?)
      Control Arms Lemfoerder
      Ball Joints Lemfoerder
      Swaybar Links Lemforerder

OEM Bushings– Sway bar, trailing arm, differential, and subframe

Also new OEM: Spring pads/Shock mount gaskets/Strut caps/Dust collars/ and Protection boots.

I am preparing for an engine swap in the fall so I will not be replacing the motor or tans mounts at this time.

      Advice is appreciated!
