Gc coil over on stock cut perch?

I bought a used set of gc coil overs and I don't have the weld on gc perches. I'm not going to section it out just yet. Maybe sometime later as I have bilstein sports all around.

My question is can I cut the stock perch and leave enough lip to run the gc on it and be okay? Or do I just leave the stock perch and just install?

I'll section the front struts at another time when I come around to buying shortened shocks.
I know I should just get it done right all at one time but at the moment I'm riding on stock blown shocks with clamped stock Springs courtesy of the previous owner.

I have the German Engineering kit, but this is what I did.

Not sure what you mean by sectioning the struts later as you have Bilstein Sports now, unless you get them sent off to be shortened and revalved you'll still need shorter inserts when you section the housing.

Absolutely, it will allow for more adjustment as well.

Slide the red sleeve down to the bottom of the perch, then use a Sharpie or something similar to mark just outside of the red tube, then make your cut.

Just take your time and don't do this...

        Ah great thank you both!

I'll be getting the appropriate hight shocks when I go section my struts.

Thank you mark. I pmed you a while ago asking about the weld on perches but the more I thought about it, I realized the stock ones do the same thing so I figure in double check and ask before I shot you an email.

        Again thanks guys.

Did they cut that off with a torch or something? That is terrifying.

                It's a customers pic.

                Ultimately, weld rings were needed.
