Replacing my whole front strut assembly with another that I picked up. Have taken off the caliper and connecting electrical wires, but hit a snag on the CA connection. Bentley manual says remove the top connection, the one connected to the stabilizer bar link, but the whole nut/stud keeps spinning. Is there a trick to this? Thanks.

The nut on the ball joint keeps spinning? Usually when that happens to me, I'm able to blast through it with an impact gun. If you don't have one of those, you could try grabbing the stud/shaft with some pliers, but that might damage the threads/stud.
You could also try wedging a pry bar in between the control arm and subframe to keep the ball joint from spinning.
Disregard if I misunderstood what you were asking.. -
Stick a floor jack under the control arm and jack the ball joint up against the strut. The pressure/friction should keep the ball joint stud from spinning so you can get the nut off.
If you still have a problem, try tightening the nut back down a few turns, then try again. Working the nut back and forth often helps clean up the threads so you can slowly make progress.Comment

Are you talking about the swaybar endlink nut? If so, You can put a 17mm wrench on the stud behind where it goes through the bar.
I think you're talking about #14?
If you're talking about #5 or 6 here then some pressure between the control arm and the spindle/subframe may help.
