Rear sway bar backwards?

Hey all,
I had the car apart for a couple of months and I just started to put it together, and I know this might sound stupid but I don't remember which direction the sway bar was in before, or if it's even possible to put it in backwards.

My guess is that it looks right. When the arm gets attached, it'll rotate that bump up over the diff -- which is, I believe, what the bump is intended to clear.

If it were the other way around, when the bar rotates the bump would be facing down -- and I'm pretty sure that will hit the diff.

I'm judging from the photo that you have the subframe/diff off the car?

You have it in backwards

The mounts should pointed to the rear of the car and the bump should "bump" upwards towards the frame of the car, not towards the diff. Once you have all other rear suspension components bolted up, it will become quite obvious which way the sway part is supposed to go

The mounts point to the rear of the car? What do you mean by that?

This photo looks like the driver's side with the camera pointing from where the diff would be -- camera facing rearward. The bottom left looks like the diff mount point.

If that sway arm rotates up towards the front of the car -- ie, rotates counterclockwise in the photo -- that would bring the bump upwards (assuming what the OP says is true about the bump pointing towards the front).

I misjudged the angle of the photo

By mounts pointing towards the rear, I meant in proportion to the outer rod-ends. The outer rod ends point to the front

backwards for sure. the hump is designed to clear the diff and the way it is now it will make contact before you even come close to swinging it 90° to the end links.

It's in right, it's just at the wrong angle. With the 75° twist forward, the hump will move upward towards the frame and clear the diff.

is it? i can't tell what direction the photo is being taken from.

edit:just read SOM's post. yeah, if that photo angle is from the rear than OP's statement of the hump is misleading.

hey sorry,
the photo was taken from the front facing the rear, with the diff, subframe, and trailing arms out
after fixing the bars position for installation by moving the outer ends forward, the hump would be on top, so I suppose it would be right.
