E30 ta technix suspension kit confusion any help

Hi guys I'm new to the forum and recently joined as a friend has just bought an e30 1.6 auto and I promised him some help if he got the car.... The car came as a mixed bag of good, bad and pretty dangerous! In the boot was a set of ta technix dampers for the front and some larger diameter legs. The problem is the cap that secures the damper in the leg only threads in a full thread then it's tight you can see the damper sits above the leg. The legs were in the boot the codes on the technix parts Are for the e30 but maybe these are m3 legs? I searched the forum so sorry if I missed something. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks j

I'm Guessing no one has dealt with this problem before so I'll try one of the more established uk sites

The thread inside the strut housing might be stripped. Have you test and see if the stock collar work?

If they are m3 strut housings they will be bolted to the spindle at the bottom. Non-m3 stuff is welded one piece. I'm pretty sure they use the same size sit inserts though, so it shouldn't matter.

I'd try screwing the nut in without the strut insert and see if it threads all the way in. If it doesn't, the threads are messed up.

Thanks for the replys. Yeah I tried the threads wich worked fine. The strut housings are welded but the struts sit 5mm above the top of the housing and the new nuts are shallow inside. The solution was to use the old nuts wich have more thread but don't locate the strut central so I used self amalgamating tape to centralise the struts while the nuts were tightened. Problem solved for now but will check for play after a while. Thanks again
