    Griffiths reman racks

I have noticed the slightest bit of play in my steering rack on the driver side. The thing is original with 185k miles on it. I am thinking it may be time for a new one.

Has anyone here bought a rack from Griffiths? Looks like a decent outfit, and they give a two year warranty.

If not Griffiths, where else might I want to look?

Upgrade to a z3 if you do anything.

Tie rods are brand new. The steering column and its linkage and "guibo" are all solid.

              Why not?

If you really need a rack, why not go with a used low mile E36 or Z3 rack. The stock rack is 4 turns lock to lock. The E36 & Z3's are 2.7 to 3.2 depending on model. 2.7 is real quick but it's OK after you get used to it. I like 3.0 or 3.2. Used they go for $150-$175 and bolt right in an air bag E30. You just have to slot the opening in the firewall. It's covered several places in the forums.
