E30: How low can u go?

    The touring is to high - even if it would drop 10-15 more. I have had 5 e30's and the last one i think was lowered 35/20 i think. Click image for larger version

    This is my car immediately after installing the front springs, so those are slightly lower now, compared to the picture, rears were put in earlier, and have already settled by the time the photo was taken.



    Springs are H&R Sports, lowering the car 30-35 mm. Dampers are Sachs M-Technik, though with such mild reduction they don't really influence the ride height.

    Opinion? I wouldn't go any lower than this with my car, though having an M52TU up front doesn't exactly help with ground clearance, but I'll have to see what's it's like once the car's back on the road. In terms of aesthetics, the rear could do with a slight raise, but the front wheel arches fill out rather nicely in proportion the the wheels.

    I'll refrain from expressing my opinion of slammed cars.

    This is how low i was on Ground Control coilovers that were only sectioned the amount GC does when they build the coilovers for you.

    Although, I found out you could go much lower and not lose shock travel if you sectioned the housings another 2 inches or so. This is the spacer that was provided with my 1198 Koni's.



    You could pretty much negate the spacer if you sectioned the housings more with no ill-effect on shock travel.

    Besides Ground Control, the 2 other options I would consider for going really low are the CA Tuned coilovers and Broadway Static (I've been meaning to talk to BWS to see what kind of options they have for an E30 application.)

    For reference, this car is on BWS coilovers.

    Thanks. But still looking for some facts. I want it "slammed", if that is the correct word for it.

    But how much should i lower it then? I want to stay at shocks and springs.

    Hi,

    I am going to drop it after new year, before the spring comes.

    I have a 325i 2-door from 1988 and want it low! Its all standard diamondblack with shadowline and 15" bbs style 5.

    Give me some ideas and pictures of your lowered standard cars.

    Tell me which springs and shocks you have used. And which i should not use.

    Looking forward to some replys.
