    custom coilover spring question

So I'm building a custom coilover setup. I'm picking out springs right now and have a few questions.

First, are most of the adjusters made for 2.5" springs? Is it possible to fit a 2.25" spring on them, or if not does anyone know where I can get an adjuster for 2.25"? None that I can find even list what size they are meant for.

Second, I know most people get a 6" spring for front and 5" for back. Some go even shorter like 5" front 4" back. If I'm not trying to slam the car, would a 7" front 6" back work? I'm not going to be shortening the front housing right away and am only looking for an average drop.

    Thanks

You can go 7"s but won't have much adjustability.
2.5" is used for the front and the most popular are marketed as 2.5" or 60mm and only that works for the front.

Yep...a 2.25" spring won't fit over the strut tube in front with a threaded sleeve on it.

Ok thanks guys. Another question, I got some 450lb springs for the front, and I'm looking at either 650 or 700 for the back. I know 700 is a little stiffer than usual, but they're like $30 cheaper for the set. What do you think? Thanks

Well, in the rear you can go 2.25", because as you've probably figured out you can go with a shorter spring without an astronomical rate out of necessity. Plus you get to delve into circle track spring stashes, if you want savings.

Ok thanks for the tips. Any idea where I could score some used springs in a good diameter/length? Also does anyone have an opinion on 650 vs 700 in the rear with 450 in the front? Thanks

In my opinion, there is very little perceivable difference between a 650 and 700 in the rear.

Thanks, I kinda figured but without any direct experience I was looking for someone to validate it for me. I will go for the cheaper pair.
