Help me decide on my steering rack?

So my steering rack needs to be replaced. Its got a lot of extra shake and a bit more play than I think it should have. So... I could go with a new (refurb) E30 rack and convert it to manual steering to get rid of more weight, or I could go with an E36/E36 M3/Z3 steering rack conversion. Not sure how manual steering on option number two would be. Opinons on powered refurb E30 rack vs. manual refurb E30 rack vs. E36/Z3 rack vs. potential manual E36/Z3 rack?

go with a z3 1.8L rack when I drive a stock e30 rack it feels like a bus to me now lol. right turns at a light can be made with out taking your hands off 10 and 2 on the wheel it is glorious. if you keep the ps the weight increase is not that bad.

Why would you de-power a powered rack at extra cost/effort/worse results
when you can just buy a Z4 rack?

Z4 rack = no power. more angle. Quicker ratio. Newer than garbage 20 year old ++ e30 parts.
      OBD1 M54/M52TU swap as a M50b25

Z4 non powered steering rack fits e30

I am being pedantic but FTFY. The 1.9l Z3 rack is bolt on also, you do not have to mess with the linkage if I remember correctly.
