    Late vs. Early strut size

Ive got bilstein sports off my 86 325e and just bought a 89 325i to replace it. I read theres a differece in strut sizes and that the early ones had 45mm OD strut inserts while the later ones had 51mm OD strut inserts. I have the smaller ones and it says here(http://www.unofficialbmw.com/e30/sus...shock_faq.html) i can use the small ones but the bigger ones would be more desirable. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have the smaller ones? They were mostly installed on 318i's

Yeah, im pretty sure the 45mm ones were only on 84 and 85 318i's only. 85 325e's had 51mm, as do all other e30s, even the M3

There were few early 325s with the 45mm strut housings.
