    Bilstein Sport Struts

    When installing bilstein sports,

Are the white plastic rings required?

    Where do they go?
I read they go under the blue boot and help to hold the boot in place, I'm not sure if that is correct.

Thanks for the quick reply. Are they vital?

I have been running them without for over a year, to problems.

I wouldn't say they're that vital. However, they do keep the boots over the strut so they don't get road grime on them.

Not to hi-jack the post but I have a related question regarding bilsteins and boots.

On the rear shocks, since the Bilsteins are so much thinner than the OEM shocks, the protective boots are way too big. Do you guys just leave the shock piston exposed to the elements or is there some bilstein-specific rear boot that I am missing?

^bump.. I really need to find a place that sells them now. Autozone is the local Bilstein "dealer", but they don't have them.

I was thinking that, but they say on their site they don't deal with individuals on purchasing parts.

I'll give them a try though. I know this drum pedal company who does the same thing, however they sell small replacements parts to the public.

The rears are covered by the black tubing that should have been on the car when you took the stock ones off. You could get that from any parts dealer.

The guy a few posts up was talkin about the rears, damn thread jacker. :)

Rear... Yeah, the black stock one just goes over the new shock.

Front... You can find generic boots for these at most auto stores. I actually happen to have a spare set of bils. boots. If you still have no luck, PM me and I will sell them to ya.
