    used front strut housings/spindle

what do I need to observe when looking at "spindle" on used strut housing/knuckle? to be sure it doesnt have any issues?...unusual wear patterns, grooves?..

... Ive never really seen one naked before.

Unless the bearing has seized there's not much that can happen to the spindle itself, though it can discolor from heat with lack of bearing grease.

If the inner race has spun, first it will "blue" the spindle from heat. If neglected, it will gall the race material to the spindle. (think friction welding)

I found some pics of so called "bad" grooved spindles( not e30).....Im still not sure if any "grooving" is acceptable?.

first pic is of a MB spindle

      last 2 are of a bmw 2002.
