    Ruh roh... Need help!

1985 4 door 325e made the mistake of letting my friend drive.
Before incident took place turning right felt a rocky, and steering wheel shook at 60mph plus.
Friend drove head on over a curb and put the two front wheels just up and over the curb.
Oil pan got messed up too however that problem doesn't concern me.
What does concern me is that the whole ride home after this knucklehead went over the 6 inch curb the steering wheel shook or vibrated at 30mph and it pulled to the left or right (can't remember).
Put the car on jack stands at home so the two front wheels are off the ground.
When turning the wheel with the car on or off the steering wheel makes metal on metal sound and tried to stop itself.
It's almost as if it's trying to lock itself into place however it will turn all the way around with force.
right ball joint looked just fine to me I have yet to look at the left.
Thank you for any input in advance, new to the e30 game and any help is greatly appreciated.

Might be the picture, but your steering rack looks bent too....

That ball joint doesn't look bad....what about the other one, and the tie rod connected to the strut?

How old are your control arm bushings.

This is what I would do:

      1) Check all your ball joints for tears in the boots and see how easy the play is
      2) Check your control arms and tie rods to make sure neither are bent
      3) Make sure your steering rack is straight and properly connected with both bolts

        Thanks for the input,
Steering rack could very well be bent however I do believe she's held on by bolts!
I actually saw a rash from that concrete curb my buddy smacked near a mount for the steering rack.
The previous owner said the front passenger shock would need to be replaced and a few of my mechanic buddies said that this could be the noise I'm hearing however they had never heard about it effecting steering.
Steering wheel shook hard at all speeds turning right and left if I remember correctly.
Another inspection with more pictures to come soon.
Going to be looking specifically at ball joints, rack or wishbones, and going to further look into the steering wheel and why it clunks so hard when i have both wheels off the ground.

          update:
Due to the flexible schedule and school I was only able to look at the control arms for a little bit and didnt notice any serious bending.
Could hold them up to each other and look for fine imperfections however i found someting else.
When i went to turn the driver's side wheel by hand it didnt budge at all.
Tried to man handle it left and right however the wheel and passenger wheel wont turn at all unless done so by the steering wheel which doesnt want to turn either.
Still looking at this as a possible suspension problem however really looking into steering components now.
Tonight I'm going to see if i can inspect the steering gear and finally get some pictures

Sounds like the torsion bar in the steering rack might have bent which means you won't get your core charge back.

so I felt the urge to push down on the front passenger corner of the car and got almost no movement and when I finally pushed down hard enough I got a good Pop.
Made sure the strut tower housing didn't move at all and then removed the strut and spring assembly.
when I push up from the bottom of the control arm I get the popping so going to remove the sway bar to control arm linkage and try to move each to see which makes the noise. Finally got time today and motivated as a kid on prom night already removed the pain in the ass oil pan so if you want some steering gear pics or anything please ask Im in the garage all night. Going to post a pic of her just for attention? Cheers
