    Los Angeles Mechanic Feeler

    Picked up an e30 92 325ic.
Strong clean engine, drives strong, but ugly to look at.
Can't complain for the price I got her at.

Mechanic I took it to, says everything is fine except for the following:

    Rack and Pinion
    control arm bushings

Do I HAVE to change em out, in order to drive safely?

If you have a shop, or work at a shop (in the Los Angeles area), and know it can be done at a better price let me know! [/B]
    [/INDENT]
    Thanks

The very first thing a mechanic who is experienced in e30s should ask is, "Has the timing belt been changed?"

All of the things he mentioned may be relevant, but none of them will grenade immediately.

The M20 is an interference motor. If the timing belt snaps, you will have a $600-$1000 bill in repairing/replacing the head, and that's if the pistons don't get damaged.

All of the "issues" he mentioned can be done in your driveway with the right tools. Although, I would leave the alignment to a professional.
