    anyone use limiting straps in the rear?

    When I jack up my car the rear springs fall out and have to be repositioned when I go to lower it down again. It really is a pain in the ass and I was thinking of putting some travel limiting straps to keep the trailing arms from drooping so much. SHould be better for the CV's too right? Anything wrong with this?

      I think its a great idea. Can't see any issues from it, as long as you make sure the strap can't get caught on the wheel, tire, rotor, or halfshaft. I'll actually be doing the same when I finally install mine.

        ON my Ex-wifes '91 Grand Am, I had the same issue. I finally got some stainless steel tie-wraps. Basically, I tied the spring to the perch. Worked about twice. It sucked, in other words. I never thought about a limiting strap! Sounds like a great idea.

              I have dealt with this issue for a few years now. The shock length also plays a part. One trick is to yank the e-brake up before you jack the rear. The tension in the e-brake prevents the trailing arm from hanging low.
              With my Bilstein Sports - the trailing arms doesn't hang low.
              With my Koni SAs - Depending on the setting - they either slowly droop or just stay up in the air.

              I use a floor jack to swap wheels each time so I just position them right each time. When I have a shop do it - I just let them know to allow me to adjust the springs before they finally lower the car.

              Needless to say as well - the lower the ride height in the rear the higher the chance of the springs slipping out. My rear is only close to low for auto-x and other uses not street driving.

              I have never seen these strap things anyway so an update when you get a solution would be appreciated.

                TMS sells these cone things the bolt onto the upper spring perch to prevent this

                    yeah.. they are machined aluminium and my springs never fall out anymore... last time Turner aligned my car the put them on without even me asking for some weird reason... the best mod that i never wanted. I dont see them on their site now that i look but i know they have them or had them.. you may want to try calling them

                      Will do.

                      Yeah the sounds when lowering the car even slowly sound horrible, can't stand it, and my car isn't even that low compared to so many.
