Shocks

So, I'm curious about my shocks. I have an '86 325es, and was thinking about picking up a used suspension for it. Was wondering if my car has the 45mm or 51 mm types. I don't know off hand, and can't measure it exactly. Is there a difference between the two types besides the OD?

I hear only the early 318's and super early eta's have the small housing. so you are 51mm
