Sloppiness in steering...

So,
I've just purchased an '87 325i coupe. Relatively clean body and interior. After spending lots of money in suspension parts I noticed that there was a lot of play in the steering coupler.
I have the coupler pictured above. Where the two "hook" pieces connect towards the left I have excessive looseness.
