    Option A it is.

^^^^ has the information provided by Rich (the Rack Doctor) on why the E46 ZHP is the best of the E46. The E36 rack is progressive whereas the E46 is more linear.
I put a 712 yellow tagged E46 ZHP rack in my E30 and it is very nice. The car feels so much more refined but with the steering heft and feel of a much more modern sports car.
A Z3 rack may be a bit better if you like the go-kart feeling though.
    Very informative, thank you!

started a topic Rack Doctor racks e46 racks

    Rack Doctor racks e46 racks

    Hi,

Has anyone here ordered one of the E46 racks rack doctor sells on their site?

    OPTION A.
    http://shop.rackdoctor.net/2002-2005...5892-330ci.htm.
    $239 with no core charge
    "Purple Tag 7852 974 678"

    OPTION B.

$249 but also $100 core NO RACK RATIO NOTED

and there is also TRW ?

$199 also with no core charge. NO RACK RATIO NOTED

I called Rack Doctor to find out more about all 3, specifically what the rack ratio is on these but their tech person is already gone for the day (everyone seems to be going home early to watch the solar eclipse! )

These seem like the most affordable prices for a "new" rack.

    OPTION C
    e36 1995 m3 3.2 lock to lock rack is $229+100 core

    OPTION D
e36 3.4 lock to lock rack http://shop.rackdoctor.net/1998-1999...95-533-227.htm is $249 with no core.

    OPTION E
e36 3.4 lock to lock (silver tag) http://shop.rackdoctor.net/1996-1997...95-533-306.htm $249 no core

    OPTION F
e46 m3 rack $239 no core - NO RACK RATIO NOTED

Options A and F seem interesting, especially because there is no core charge. I do have an e36 used rack I could use as a core, but Rack Doctor is very specific with their core returns needing to match the rack you are ordering ...
