Anyone running KYB shocks/struts on a convertible?

I am looking to refresh the suspension on my 91 318i cabrio but am working with a budget. Was looking at getting H&R Sports/Billy Sports but saw that KYBs are half the price and, from what I recall, have similar manufacturing quality/techniques as the Billys. Anyone running them and happy? If so, what model did you go with? Looking for a stiffer ride but still comfy, nothing crazy. Thanks!

I don't have a cabrio, but I have the KYB Excels up front and the Gas-Adjust in the rear, paired with Vogtland springs and e90 drophats up front.

Overall I'm extremely pleased with the stance of the vehicle, they ride similar to OEM, perhaps a hair harsher over bumps, but otherwise very smooth. Once I get my new control arms and alignment done I'll be posting a review of the setup.

Compared to my last setup of Billy Sports/IE Race Springs, these are much more comfortable for a DD.

I have kyb's on mine. They're fine. It's a vert. They're better than blown shocks. Kyb is actually a popular upgrade in the american sports car market. I've had mine for around 40k miles (with H&R sports) and they're still in service.

if you want to save up some extra cash I would say wait til July or so when koni shocks go on sale and end up being around the same price as a set of bilsteins

an e90 drop hat is a top spring hat from an e90, which when put on an e30, allows for an extra half inch drop in ride height. Just search "e90 drop hats," find the part number, and replace them when you replace your front shocks. They're like $15 each. I got mine from ecs tuning, which had the best price after shipping. The ecs website actually says "these are a popular choice for e30 drivers" etc
