So I bought a '95 M3 steering rack from a company called Euroasian Auto, Inc. It included Tie rods and a low pressure line for $165 shipped. It is indeed 3.0 turns lock to lock.
I couldnt' be happier with it. The rack was in Brand-new condition perfectly clean and it has no leaks. The car had 100,000 miles on it, which isnt' too bad..
The purpose of this thread is to say that Ritalinkid's writeup was Perfect and a great model for anybody considering this swap! The only thing I had a problem with was geting the steering knuckle off of the spline at the steering wheel side.... Alot harder than it looks! Other than that, it was 100% right on the ball and is a paragon for anybody thinking of the swap. I didn't do the tacos though....
On another note, the place I got the rack from was curteous and a great price with high quality and prompt shipping. I'm not plugging them and have no affiliation with them whatsoever, but for anybody looking to get good quality parts, that is the place to go.
