    shock collar

Just picked up some Bilstein sports used and wondering about the different shock collar. It looks like the one I need is different, and I'm wondering about where I could find this collar to buy or do I mearly need to mess with the factory collar to make it work.
Thanks, any guidance would be awesome.

You should have gotten the new ones with the shocks. Otherwise you can get them from a bilstien dealer or used somewhere or even a BMW dealer. Probably expensive. The proper ones have one slot all the way across instead of having 4 holes or hex on the outside orhwatver.

I bet you could modify the stock ones to work... but I've never seen it done and I wouldnt want to try.

      I bought mine from dealer.

They were like 20e each, but I got employee disconut.

      P/n 31321130068 for "small" strut
      P/n 31321130069 for "big" strut.

And if you ever run across to problem that those realoem numbers don't work at dealer, just ask if they could try same number with "1" on front.

EDIT: and don't even consider modifying original collar nut, i built one from original and because there is massive difference(machined steel with bilsteins, pressed steel with originals) construction will be weak, and there might be risk that absorber will work it's way trough the collar nut.
      Current:

      BMW 320i 2d 2.0 m20 -88
      BMW 325i Cabriolet 2.5 m50 -88
      BMW 316i touring 1.6 m40 -90
      BMW 320i 4d 2,2 m54 -01

Thanks much Rocla. Awesome deal w/ the collars. Exactly what I was looking for. The modifying was an idea I had and wasn't sure if possible or worth the time. Kind of a worst case idea. Thanks for the answer.

I ran into the same issue, but called up Bilstein and had them ship me the strut collars I needed for free. The collars came after a few days and worked fine. The old ones were rusted up pretty badly.
