Need Opinions! PLEASE

Hey Guys,
Just got back from the mechanic with my bro. He had his ES suspension looked at.

What he needs:
New Spring
New Control Arms
New strut assemblies

Total 900 including tax. This is from a mechanic that hooks us up so we know we aren't getting shafted because some one else qouted at $1500...AHHH!!

Are these things hard to change out ourselves with minimal experience but probably most the tools we need, unless there is something special that I don't know about.

Any Opinions on what we should do? That is getting very close to what the car is worth.

Also is if we tighten everything up will that put more stress on the original rack n' pinion and cause it to blow?

New springs, control arms and struts are easy to do yourself and could be accomplished in an afternoon. The only specialized tool you will need is a spring compressor.

A properly functioning suspension shouldn't stress the rack and cause failure.

i dont see why you couldnt do upgraded parts and keep it under a grand and so it yourself??

Right but that is almost how much the car is worth. I would say do it if it was on mine because its worth it but Dave's is becoming a beater and almost not worth it...that the big decision

I would definately do it for $500.00 or so but $900. Anyone in Columbus Ohio that has done this before want to look over me/Dave while doing it so we do it right?
