    84 318i shocks & struts

Whats up guys, im looking to buy a new suspension for my 84 318i and i was shopping around and i found a bunch to choose from but once i started to read the fine print i noticed that they all were for 85-91
do any of you know if my 84 struts are the same as 85 ^

also im looking at some KYB shocks and struts i can get a really good deal on a complete set all 4 for $100 keep in mind im not gonna put this car on a course just street. If i can get a deal on some bilseins ill go that route.

    Thanx

84 and 85 are the same as I own both. But your real problem is that the strut size for the 318i goes in a 45mm housing, most other E30's have a 51mm housing, so you need to be very careful about what you buy.

Most vendors who have the correct strut list it as for a '83-85 318i', so be careful when looking around. As for the rear, there all pretty much the same across the whole E30 line with a few exceptions.

Good luck on the all 4 for $100 since a single Bilstein strut starts around that price, but shop around I've seen some pretty good deals out there but since I race my 318i I don't use that stuff so have no idea on it's quality.

        No sorry...

I come from a large family so all my parts trickle down as my cars get upgraded.:nice:

Thats correct, the early 318i's use smaller front inserts. The first time I ordered bilstein sports they wouldn't fit the fronts as they were for the 325s.

All you need to do is get some 325 strut tubes. They are a dime a dozen. Super Eta's were the only other ones that were different besides the 318's (early and late). Just find someones strut tubes that did a 5 lug conversion and you will have the larger diameter housings.

i think im gonna use the e36 ones and mod them. I can get a new set cheaper than the e30 ones. I checked it out its not that much moddin to get them to fit. Im all about the KuStoM shit.

                    and
                    i can lower it more!
