i know for a fact, that weaponR (ricer parts company, semi-reputable) had their springs made by a matress spring manufacturer at one point in time...

IMHO i wouldnt buy them unless you are despret. Ebay suspension setups i have always been worried about (Unless they are H&R,Eibach,IE3,etc.) pretty much name brand. i have heard of alot of honda drivers using them. but from the looks of it you will have to find a way to mount them. find a way to get some spring perches to weld on.

It doesnt say anyhting about spring rate, length, etc.

I am getting the C3Motorsport Coilovers but if u want to try these that would be cool and give a little bit of feedback on them. just remember to get some new shocks.

A GC setup (springs and perches) is like 400ish...Id rather spend that and get something worth a damn.. or you can go C3 or GC Full kits.

we all know that anything built by the boatload will save you $$$

not that I'm trying to discredit Cosmo (i know nothing about them), but who's to say that they don't get their coilovers from the same source, and then branded in-house?

Or maybe they do produce their own coilover... but its still based off the same model (I believe Ground Control and Skunk were the first to come out with this type of coilover)

Don't get me wrong, I do believe in "you get what you pay for", but I also know the difference in price of things when you buy 1 vs. 100,000

Cosmo is indeed shady stuff. They are VERY generic parts that fits all cars. Perches are too big. No choice of spring rates. And kits that need more parts to be really complete. That stuff will work for ricers who do not care less about quality. Others will simply buy GC coil-overs.

there is nothing "special" about the ground control shit either.

the cosmos are eibach springs with either a "street" rate 280/350
or the "race" rates 400/500 or close to that.

the collars and sleeves are the same you can find at any dirt track store/website

When installing coil-overs, it is nice one can pick the proper rate of springs. Rear rate should be about 150% the front one, or it will seriously screw the handling. Too soft a front rate and the coils will bind. 280# fr is very soft and would require 420# at the rear. Which is quite far from what Cosmo offers. Adn what if the owner wants to tune the handling by changing spring rates? Using springs from Eibach or H&R allows such a wide choice of rates. Also last time I saw those Cosmo kits for real, the threaded adjusters were quite big for the e30 struts, and the rear kit had no plate to solidly keep the springs in place.

Somebody who sells a used set of GC coil-overs will have no problem getting a fairly good price. Try to sell a use Cosmo kit...

If I remember, the springs did not have the standard 2.5" (or even 2.25") inside diameter. Perhaps I was wrong when noticing it, but that also means there is no possibility of getting springs from known suppliers such as H&R or Eibach. Sure, AFCO and other Oval track suppliers can be a source of springs, but that's as long as the id is standard.

for all we know... ground control are built in the same warehouse as these other ebay coilover kits... and all we are paying for is the name... and knowing the spring rates (now that eibach makes them for GC)

i'm not out to put down GC or cosmo... i'm just trying to be a more informative buyer is all.

this is not true. those ebay companys DO NOT all use eibach ERS. some MAY. as for the hardware, im pretty sure that GC makes their products in house, at least thats what they claim. you cannot group a $30 CO kit with a $350 CO kit...it just doesnt work like that.

I find extremely interesting that some people do not even have a hint about what makes the difference in quality between two products. Quality of material and engineering are very important. We could pass those people balloney as prime ribs. I'd be extremely interested to hear what would happens if one calls Cosmo and asks for springs of a specific rate, or what spring rate to use for Autocrossing versus HPDEs, or the best shock valving to match their springs. Cosmo is junk. Period. Not because it is cheaper than domestic products, but because the parts are of inferior quality. The same kit cannot fit an e30 or a Hyundai at the same time. No wonder there are some people who do not make the difference between a Chromoly rollbar and one made from ABS sewage tubing.
