this isn't essential when running "coil-overs" like what most everyone on here runs. this is essential to running TRUE coil-overs, along with a proper cage and reinforcements.

ic, but if you had a proper cage, then this piece would be pointless, b/c you would have welded in reinforcement bars between the rear strut towers...

Actually I just had him make his rear 3 piece e36 bar, and make me some ends that fit the e30 tower surround.

I figured that with his design, even if a rear bar was "useless", this design - either removable or fixed - had the outer design to re-enforce the strut bearing area entirely.

I know I'll get flamed by plenty, but why isn't a rear bar "needed" when using even coventional suspension - I understand that the upper shock area may not see the cornering force like down lower in the subframe bushings, but even if there's a small amount brought up, shouldn't you be trying to keep the geometry constant? Also, shouldn't you be trying to spread as much force as you can just in general practice?

@ whoever says this isn't a "butt strut" - what is that then? Or should I just regret asking now? I live a sheltered life, I think.

they are saying it's not a butt strutt because our cars have shocks in the rears and the struts are up front. the front piece is called front strut bar so i called this the butt strut bar. sounds nice though ;)

Keep your mouth shut. A cage isn't necessary.

It isn't a "butt strut" cause there is another company who makes a product actually called the "butt strut" that ties in the lower subframe bolts.

Our strut tower braces transform the handling of your BMW, and feature a unique, rigid design while maintaining easy serviceability.

Gotcha. Thanks, I was expecting some sort of gay sex butt device - so it was a toss of the dice asking what the real deal was.

I have the same strut bar as Blunt, and it's awesome. Cheap too. And it went in easy. FYI I decided not to drill a million holes through my car and risk rusting it out, I just made sure the RSM bolts were really tight and called it good :) never had a problem with it.
