Is there anyone running the boots on their front struts ? I am about to install my new KONI's as soon as the control arms bushings etc.. arrive. But I have noticed that the struts that are on the car do not have any boots over them and the new koni's did not come with any either. I was wondering if these are needed and if so where can I can a pair of them. The rear koni's I have to install came with the solid plastic sleeve with them. Any information would be helpful

I'd be super hesitant not to run them myself. In fact I wouldn't go without them for a DD. I'm O-C though, so you might get away with it - hey, they don't put them on a ton of MX bikes / quads - but I think they expect you inspect / service / clean your stuff more often there.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.Comment

I have called Ground Control where I bought the struts and shocks from and they tell me the struts do not require any boots however depending on what springs you are running it is required that you run what the spring manufacture recommends for bump stops. He told me that they sell everything for factory settings and did not know what I needed to run as far as bump stops for H & R race spring. So know I have to talk to H & R about what bump stops to run..... I have now talked with H & R about what to do with the bump stops on the struts for the race springs for the e30 and they tell me that everything that is factory gets switched over to the new setp. There is no need to cut the factory ones down or use custom altered bump stops either. Hope this helps for anyone in the futureLast edited by atomic; 06-28-2007, 09:06 AM.Comment

I ran my bumpstops, and still do, cut down by a 1/3. Works great. My 2.9L Build!

I'm not running bump stops because they don't fit over the bilstein sport struts. I guess I could cut the hole larger but my susp is stiff enough that I doubt I will ever have any probs.///Alpinweiß II 24v 91' 318is, Alpinweiß III 99' 323i, 04' Yamaha R6 SE for sale, 00' VW GTi, 83' El Camino BURNED, 01' P71sold, 92' Miatasold
