H&R Springs and Bilstein shocks. pics and ifo please!

Sorry guys but i really know absolutely nothing about suspension.
I'm considering buying this set up second hand from a fellow BMW owner.

    1990 BMW E30 318is H&R Springs and Bilstein suspension

I have for sale a set of lowerd H&R springs and Bilstein dampers. These two products are the most well ronound and best quality suspension components you can buy for your little BMW. As you can see from the pictures the fronts are mounted in the 318is struts. These struts are the larger diameter design, the same as the 6 cylinder models, as fitted to the 318is, but as the auction includes the struts they should bolt into any E30, including the 4 cylinder models. The springs are lowered 1.5" all round and greatly reduce the body roll, yet are comfortable. The dampers are the Bilstein sport models, that are firmer than the HD and are suited to the stiffer and lower springs. Both the springs and the dampers are only 8 months old, and have not been used for the last 4 of those months, i have reciept to confirm this. The auction includes the brake discs and calipers attached to the struts, ready to bolt in.
i have no interest in the disks and calipers as he will not ship them interstate.
questions are, does anyone have pictures with this set up?
and is there anything i should know about these before i buy them?

I can get pics if it helps.

Thought id post it here 1st to give the sub forums a chance...
    We'll see.

    Thanks in advance!

        find out

find out how many miles is on each part

like how many miles is on the springs adn shocks.

Also like previously mention, ask about which spring is it... sport, race, oe.

ask if its specific springs for your car. get a part number if you can. H&R makes different ones for different car weight. I know there is one specific for the cabrio, I'm pretty certain the 318 gets differetn springs vs 325. or else you will be riding sky high with them 325 springs... haha

Well i'd be putting them on a 323 so i dont think there will be an issue with high riding.

The model numbers are as follows:

          Springs:
          Front: 50404.55 F
          Rear: 50404.55 R
The model numbers on the dampers are:
          Front: F4-P36-0335-H0
          Rear: F4-B36-2027-H0

The springs are grey, and have H&R S/A written on them, along with the model number.

Can you tell me what to make of this information?
I am awaiting a reply regarding sport/race/oe springs...

          thanks

i think those are OE if they are grey, cause black is sport and red is race.

                Questions i asked the seller:

-Are the H&R springs model specific? (ie: specifically 318i/323i/325i?)
-Are the H&R springs Sport, Race, or OE springs?
-How many k's are on the set up?
-Do you have receipts for everything?
-What happened to the car they were on?

I believe the springs will fit any of the cars as they are on the 318is struts which are the same as E30 6 cylinder struts, i ordered them for my 318is, not sure whether there are different part numbers for the other cars. The springs are the sport springs. they would be lucky to have 3000 kms on them. Have reciepts for both the springs and the dampers. The car was hit straight in the front. nothing came close to touching the struts or suspension.

                  do this

hey ask him for the reciepts and check up on the part number. They should have part number on the spring themselves. Do not trust what other poeple are selling you, always find out for yoruself. Cause maybe they dont even know what they have. I would only get sport h&R and the bilsteins have to be sport or HD or else it wouldnt be worth it.

Why would it not be worth it?
                      Are they poor performing springs/shocks?
Or do they just not drop the car?...

The bids only at ~$100AU, and im really keen to lower my car a little.

                      great resource thank you!
You are right, they are definitely OE sport springs.

Photo of OE from H&R website:

So what's so bad about the OE springs?
                      No lower than standard?

I really do appreciate the responses guys.
                      Thanks

                      *edit*
                      According to bilstein website

Front shocks are - 325i SPORT, and
                      Rears are - BMW 3-series E30 SPORT

well according to the link i sent, the OE only drops a inch, which isnt much at all on a early e30. sports look a lil better, but race is the way to go IMO.

buddy of mine (jje30) has h&r race on sports, on 14"weaves:

                        and on 17s:

which is radically different looking than my old car on the same suspension and 17"s

so you might want to consider a more aggressive drop than 1"

How much are you willing to bid on them? As I am also watching these on ebay too.

I don't know mate, I'm beginning to think of spending my money elsewhere.
I probably would have bid up to between 2-300 depending how much interest in them there was.

Even if i were to buy them for the shocks and sell the springs...

                            not so sure now..
