    Koni and H&R Setup question

    Hi guys,
What do you think about Koni Sport Adjustible shocks (Yellow) with H&R Sport Springs set with 1.3" drop? I am looking for it to be somewhere in the middle - not too soft and not too stiff.

Also what do you guys think about Eibach Sway bar kit? I see that it has same as stock 20mm front bar. What is the difference between their 20mm and stock 20mm beside eibach being adjustible?

Are there other sway bar brands that you can recommend over eibach?

    Thank,
    Leo

I love my Koni's and H&R Race springs. Set the shocks to soft, and it feels great. Set them to stiff, and you're ready for anything.

      Thanks for the reply Pierced.

Anybody else? Any more feedback on Shocks/Springs or Sway bars?

I've had my e30 for about 4 months now. Just last weekend I went from stock suspension (250k when odometer stopped, but not sure how old parts were) to Koni adjustables, HR sports, ST sways, some cheap front strut bar and replaced a few oem parts and all I have to say is wow.

Friend who does work on my car would not install my suspension until after I attended my first autocross so that I could really appreciate it and get a better understanding/feel for the car before/after and again, wow.

I honestly can't go into detail as far as differences due to the fact I am still very much a newb. But I can say it is night and day between the two.

But turn to soft for daily driving and turn to hard for when you want to be serious...... awesome ride... love it and got to like the fact the the rears do not have to be taken loose to adjust. Well worth the extra $140 or so to be able to adjust inside the trunk with the knob as used on the fronts

Does anyone know where to get top adjustable konis all around? Most retailers only carry top adjustables for the front and not for the rears.

AFAIK they are the only ones who have the custom front and rear top adjustable Koni's. At least they are the only ones I could find when I got mine. There site says they are sold out but it said that when I bought mine as well. I just called them up and ordered. Just make sure you tell them you are wanting their custom koni top adjustables for a e30. They are the ones listed on this page listed above, just pick the correct ones from the drop down list.

Now the not so good. They are incompetent as hell. Just make sure that the order has the spacers needed to make the front inserts work. There are tow choices of spacers, 1- one spacer per side is used if you are going to cut 1" out of the strut tube bodies and reweld the spring perches back on(allows for it to be lowered more) or 2- one spacer per side is used to keep from cutting the strut bodies and maintaining the oem strut insert height(method I went with since I was using H & R races) Either method I was told to put the spacers under the inserts and put together. I tell you this since they deglected to tell me a damn thing about it and took me well over a month to get all the correct parts to finish installing the suspension. You have to have the spacers to put the fronts together unless you go with the shortening of the housings then you will either have them do your housing for you (several weeks turn around) or if you capable you can do it yourself.

They will also go ahead and build up the rear shocks for you if you order their rear shock mounts. Aluminum and very hefty built and nice. Well worth the $100 for them since the oem mounts are terrible.

Hope this helps but just be very clear with them up front with what you need and want to do and hopefully they will be able to get you the correct parts the first time around, unlike with my order.

I've just been keeping it to PM's for a few people who've really been looking for these kinds of parts,

I have access to Koni, Eibach, H&R, Ground-Control... parts for the e30. I've already helped out a number of guys here on r3v, s14.net and bimmerforums get setups.

I've been selling standard koni's, top adjustable rears, double adjustable rears, and shortened fronts in any combo. Along with rear mounts that can accept them and any kind of spring/coil combo a person might want.
