    Calling H&R Race owners

I'm considering these springs for my E30. Shocks are Billstein Sports. The car is a daily driver. I am currently running SPAX springs in my other E30, and the ride is the lowest I've seen on any E30 as I'm left with 2" of ground clearance at the lowest point under the car. The problem is, the springs are too soft for my environment, and I scrape alot (Almost ground through my second skidplate).

So... I've never driven on H&R Race springs. These will be on my daily driver, what does everyone think of the ride? Anyone DD them? I dont mind a solid ride, but I dont want the car to become airborne over cracks or bumps on the highway...

    TIA :)

I've DD'd H&R Races with Koni's and they aren't that stiff, but that is with Koni's set on soft. Billy Sports will give a significantly stiffer ride since you can't dial up/down the stiffness.

We use these springs for Spec E30 and I've driven mine on the street quite a bit, both local and 6 hrs each way to VIR. They ride surprisingly nice, even with Bilstein sports. I really like them.

I daily drive on h&r race/billy sports. They are a somewhat stiff spring, but definitely not too bad to for a daily driver. I've hit my fair share of bumps and never scrape anything. The only reason I would ever consider changing my setup is in favor of coilovers. But for now I like the way this setup rides and handles on a street car.

I completely agree with the above quote 100%. But if you dial up the koni's then it does get somewhat harsh for a DD, at least around here with the roads the way they are.

IMO Im unhappy with my race springs. But thats because this is my track only car and turbo so I push the limits a bit more.

If its a DD, the race would be as stiff as I would go and the bil sports are good with them too. Def make for good street driving.

            Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!

I'll be running 0 offset wheels and don't want to rub. Will the Billstein sports allow too much travel? Should I go with Koni yellows? (noticeably more expensive)

If you are running an off the wall wheel setup, stiffer springs are needed, or g/c (linear springs FTW).

It's a bit stiff with the bilsteins for a DD especially if you have crap roads. If the roads were all new they'd be totally fine :). I try my best to avoid crap roads but it's a bit impossible in Vancouver :(.

I have races and Bilstein sports and I use to drive my e30 daily (picked up an e34 for that) but I never thought it was to stiff for daily driving.

I run em w/ koni sa's....its stiff but passable for a DD..I track mine mainly.
I love sitting down and just driving!

I bought some Bilstein sports. My buddy is trying to get me to go with GC coilovers... However, the $700 difference in price could pay for my wheels and tires...lol

                          BYOC's

Build your own coilovers. I am finding the only hard part to source is the springs.. but it is an option.

finding 6" 2.5"ID springs in decent rates is not that easy.. 5.5" and 5" are even harder to find (for a decent price)

Is this for the black car?

I second that is the way to go .

However used springs can be had for cheap on Bf.c and other sites with a strong track section .
Pair of used springs routinely go for $50 on the low side .

                              Yes, my 89.

BYOC'ing it has been on the table for some time, I'm just having a hard time locating everything.. I'll probably stay "budget" and run springs/shocks for now and spend the rest in other areas..

I don't track much, and when I do it just DE- I really don't need adjustablility, just want it...
