    Sway Bars Knocking

I just installed ST 22 F/ 19 R sway bars on my 325i and the rears make a slight knocking sound when i turn hard. just one single knock though not like a series of knocks. like an end link gets snagged on something. I checked to make sure everything is tightened down all the way. It drives just fine, I am just concerned about the sound. any suggestions?

Did you set the pre-load on the bars correctly? I had a knocking sound lie you describe in the front once, from not setting the pre-load right.

The quick down and dirty version is:

You hook up one side of the sway while the car is elevated (for easier acess). Then lower the car down to the ground, roll it around a bit to settle everything. Then hook up the opposite side endlinks. You want to adjust the opposite side endlink so there is no play, but no jacking or extra pressure being applied to the sway bar as well.

oh snap! so what could the harmful effects be if I just leave the set up the way it is. Could leaving the "knock" possibly do catastrophic damage? I appreciate all your help, thanks.

It could be harmfull to the ends if they are binding. It's really not hard to do, it just takes a litle time.

When I do it I park the car on a set of 2"x4" ramps that I made that lifts the car about 4" to help get under it to do it.

I hear the same sound. I've been trying to figure it out. My sway bar links are toast anyways as they are factory and i've had the bar off doing suspension. Come to think of it, I dont think I heard the sound until I did my suspension originally (car was all stock when purchased).
I put both ends of the sway bar back on while each side was jacked up respectively. I think is my problem as well.
