Are these just expensvie spring pads?

They say that these go between the spring and spring seat. They are made by Suspension Techniques and come in different sizes from .6 up to an inch. I would get them for my car because I need a little bit on the rear but I will just double or maybe triple up on spring pads if its the same thing.

That's exactly what they are. Expensive spring pads. The ony reason most people resort to these or something like it is because you can't just simply add stock spring pads on top of eachother. Especially in the front because the pads up front are an exact fit to the spring seat and wear the spring actually seats. And as for the rear. They can be stacked unless you cut the second and/or third ones in the center so they would fit over the succeeding pads.

Anyway, I'd say go ahead and try it in the rear and see how it works out. I don't run any cuz I like the tucked rear tire look.

    Hope that helps a little.

I had no rear pads in for a while in my cabby with H&R race's, but it looked like it had a lot of reverse rake (it wasn't, just appeared like it with tuck in the rear and none in the front, rockers were dead flat), and even with those very short springs there's no clunking. If you think about it, you need to fully unload the suspension for these springs to get loose, and that includes taking the shocks off. The front is another story, but you'd still need to unload the suspension pretty harshly to her a clank, and I'm only running pads in the rear to give it about a half inch forward rake.

I feel the same about the pads. There's no noise and it gives me a little tuck in the rear which I really like. I had to put mine back in when I got my 16x8 et15 wheels because they rubbed the lips of the quarters but no problems now cuz they are heavily rolled.

What really is the point of the pads? Is it just to quell the supposed clunking?

I don't run front pads, and I have 3 pads stacked in the rear on each side - two 5mm and one 10/15mm I think. LOL
